A woman’s suicide attempt is interrupted by a nuclear catastrophe. Wandering through a silent city in a dissociative state, she witnesses death and destruction without reaction – until the light of dawn awakens her grief.

Portrait explores the life and art of Tom Schurr, my longtime friend and collaborator, as he grapples with the onslaught of Parkinson's disease. Through intimate conversations, raw observation and archival material, it asks: what compels a person to devote their life to making art, even in the face of obscurity and hopelessness?
A collaboration with my brother, Owen Gothill.

I'm a filmmaker and software engineer based in Berlin.
Born in London in 1986, I spent part of my childhood in France before returning to the UK. I studied Philosophy, a thread that continues to shape my work. I'm also the father of two boys, who keep me young and foolish.
